MADISON, MS, September 03, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ — Kimberly L. Campbell, Esq. has been inducted into Marquis Who’s Who. Motivated by a passion for community service and helping others, Ms. Campbell received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Mississippi State University, a Master of Arts in Organizational Communications from Auburn University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Mississippi School of Law. Following the conclusion of her academic efforts, she began her career as a law clerk for two Mississippi Supreme Court Justices. After her law clerkships, she became the Policy Analyst for the Jackson City Council and joined the Adjunct Faculty of Belhaven College, before serving as a Solo-Practitioner with own firm: The Law Office of Kimberly L. Campbell, for over 10 years. She also found success as the City Attorney for the City of Belzoni, Mississippi, and as a Legislator in the Mississippi House of Representatives. Ms. Campbell subsequently worked as a Special Youth Court Judge for the Hinds County Youth Court, before stepping into her current role as a State Director for AARP Mississippi.
In her position with AARP, Ms. Campbell is responsible for all initiatives that involve the 50+ population and their families. She also promotes the national AARP agenda, throughout the state of Mississippi, and oversees service for more 265,000 members in the state. She conducts community outreach projects on state advocacy, veterans, caregivers, members and volunteers across the state. Ms. Campbell also participates in federal work with the association in Washington, D.C.
Previously, while serving in the Mississippi Legislature, Ms. Campbell was one of the leading authors and champions of a human trafficking bill. She also worked to strengthen policies for domestic violence and child pornography penalties, and developed comprehensive stalking laws in the state. As a Youth Court Judge, she also worked to implement parenting programs. For her efforts over the years, Ms. Campbell has received numerous awards and accolades. To wit, she was named as the Community Person of the Year during the Southwestern Province Conference of the Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc., awards from The Links, Inc. and received several Rising Star Awards.
Long dedicated to community advocacy, Ms. Campbell has been civically active with her affiliations with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Junior League of Jackson, Leadership Jackson, and The Links, Inc. She is a Former Board Member of the Jackson Public Schools District. Additionally, she is currently a Mississippi Department of Archives and History Board of Trustees Member. Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Campbell has attributed her professional success to her parents and her faith. Looking toward the future, she plans to continue finding success in her current position with the AARP and is hopeful, to one day, become a part of the leadership team of her favorite alma mater, Mississippi State University.
