The Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, inaugurated several social infrastructures, in the municipal headquarters of Cuilo, Lubalo, Xá-Muteba, Chitato and Lucapa, in the province of Lunda-Norte, namely five new systems of captation, treatment and potable water supply, in the scope of the Public Investments Program of the sector.
João Baptista Borges arrived last Wednesday in Dundo, in the company of the provincial governor, Enesto Muangala, and the Secretary of State for Water, Lucrécio Costa, and went to Cuilo and Lubalo municipalities.
The ministerial delegation then went to the municipality of Xá-Muteba, to inaugurate the local water system, returning afterwards to Dundo, in transit to Lucapa, for the same purpose.
In the municipality of Chitato, besides the production, distribution, and treatment infrastructures, the minister João Baptista Borges also inaugurated a laboratory for water quality analysis in the urban district of Mussungue.
With the exception of Chitato, where there are modern systems with a reasonable coverage, the populations of the remaining districts have been living, for many years, without drinking water supply. The day also includes visits to the hydroelectric works, as part of the increase in power of the Luachimo dam and the Lucapa thermal power plant.
